Our equipment

Summer Season: Bikes, Canoes, Kayaks, and Pedal Boats

Service location: 191 Avenue du Lac, Rouyn-Noranda. RécréOsisko shed.

We have 32 high-quality bicycles, including:

  • 8 for children of various ages, including 2 balance bikes *
  • 1 tandem bike
  • 7 electric-assist bikes, including 3 for disabled individuals**
  • 16 adult bikes (unisex), including 2 equipped with a child seat

Opening date : 24th of May 2024 

*For young children, we also have 2 trailers and 2 tag-alongs. Several accessories such as helmets and locks are also available.

**Note that electric bicycles are reserved for elderly individuals or those with specific conditions.

We have 9 watercraft * as well as flotation jackets:

  • 4 kayaks (2 singles, 2 doubles)
  • 3 pedal boats (4 seats for a maximum of 700 lbs)
  • 2 canoes
  • Flotation jackets in various sizes (for children from 60 lbs)

Opening date : 20th of June 2024

*Please note that the rental service for watercrafts depends on the condition of the lake. The presence of Eurasian watermilfoil in Lake Osisko sometimes forces us to suspend rentals, albeit against our will.


Winter Season: Skates, Snowshoes, Sleds, and Snow Scooters

Service location: 191 Avenue du Lac, Rouyn-Noranda. Maison Dumulon basement.

We offer various winter equipment, including:

  • 35 pairs of snowshoes for adults
  • 12 pairs of snowshoes for children
  • 80 pairs of ice skates in all sizes for adults and children
  • 3 pairs of ski-shoes (HOK skis)
  • 4 pairs of walking poles
  • 2 toboggan sleds

Opening date : To be determined 

Thanks to a partnership with ARLPHAT (L’Association régionale de loisirs pour personnes handicapées de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue), two (2) snow scooters are available to the public.

Loan Conditions

General Terms
  • Must be 18 years old or older;
  • Present a photo ID: health insurance card, driver’s license, passport or student card;
  • The renter releases RécréOsisko and its representatives from all liability related to the use, operation, or performance of the borrowed equipment, or for any other reason arising from the borrowing of the equipment. The renter also releases RécréOsisko and its representatives from any third-party claims for similar damages;
  • The renter acknowledges that outdoor activities carry certain risks. They have been informed of these risks and assume full responsibility;
  • The renter possesses the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience required to engage in the activity. They will comply with all applicable laws and regulations;
  • The renter acknowledges that the rented equipment was handed over in good condition and commits to returning the equipment in the same condition as when it was received, except for normal wear and tear;
  • The renter commits to using the rented equipment and accessories with the utmost care and assumes full responsibility for any loss caused by theft or any other cause. They commit to bearing the cost of repair or replacement of the rented equipment and accessories that have been lost or damaged;
  • The renter agrees that part or all of their deposit may be retained by RécréOsisko or its representatives in case of late return beyond the free period or in case of loss, theft, or damage to the equipment;
  • The renter commits to notifying RécréOsisko in writing and signed document of any theft of the borrowed equipment immediately after the theft, describing all the circumstances in which it occurred. They also commit to notifying the police within the same timeframe;
  • The renter commits to not consuming, not possessing, and not being under the influence of drugs, illicit substances, or medications (whether prescription or not) that could impair their ability to engage in the proposed activities. Furthermore, the renter confirms not being under the influence of alcohol and commits to remaining so for the entire duration of the activity;
  • No reservations possible except for community or school groups;
  • Loan deposits are cash only;

Bicycles
  • Youths aged 16 and 17 with a driver’s license can borrow one (1) bicycle;
  • A deposit of $20 per bicycle is required for non-members;
  • A deposit of $40 per electric-assisted equipment is required for non-members;
  • Free loan for a duration of 2 hours;
  • A fee of $5 per hour of delay applies if the bicycle is not returned on time. These fees apply as soon as the free period is exceeded;
  • The renter commits to paying for the additional period used, exceeding the free period, upon return;
  • The renter must wear a helmet when using electric-assisted equipment or a fat-tire bike, whether provided by RécréOsisko or personal. RécréOsisko strongly recommends wearing a helmet when using regular bicycles as well. However, for regular bicycles, wearing a helmet is at the renter’s discretion;

Watercrafts
  • Free loan for a duration of one (1) hour;
  • A fee of $10 per hour of delay applies if the watercraft is not returned on time. These fees apply as soon as the free period is exceeded;
  • Wearing a life jacket is mandatory;

Snowshoes and skates
  • Free loan with a refundable deposit of $5 per equipment. $20 for snow scooters;
  • Free loans are for a duration of 24 hours;
  • To rent beyond this period, $5 per equipment for each additional 24-hour period must be paid BEFORE leaving with the equipment;
  • No rental fees apply on closed days (Monday, holidays);
  • Return the equipment in person to a Magasin Général Dumulon employee during opening hours;

  • RécréOsisko commits to providing equipment and safety accessories to users in good condition;
  • RécréOsisko is not responsible for any event (accidents, incidents, damages, and interests for any damage to the renter’s property and equipment) during the rental period and incurs no liability for any injuries or damages whatsoever;

Becoming a Member

Any individual aged 18 and over who regularly or occasionally uses RécréOsisko’s service or is simply concerned about maintaining and developing our service in Rouyn-Noranda can become a member. As a form of support and with the aim of ensuring the service’s maintenance, the annual contribution is $20.

  • No longer needing to provide a deposit to borrow a bike (electric-assist or non-electric);
  • Faster checkout process;
  • Ability to borrow a second adult bike without an additional deposit (ideal for a couple or family);
  • Three (3) continuous hours of free use instead of two (2) hours;
  • Free loan for watercraft on the lake, two (2) continuous hours per outing;
  • Ability to influence the service’s development and, as a legally constituted group, become a credible voice for advancing the cause of active transportation in our city in a sustainable development perspective.
